Remembering 07/11

11th July  is here again. It will be whole one year when many families lost their near and dear ones. When many people became disabled for the rest of their life. When many children lost their father, their uncle etc.

Suddenly that evening is coming to my mind. All the events of that bloody evening are being telecasted in my mind. It was lazy tuesday evening was around 6.00 pm in the evening. I just had the evening snacks and had returned to my desk. As there was no work and I was feeling bit fatigued, I was thinking of leaving early. Just then my colleague called me to resolve a query of June monthend, that was to resolved that day itself as the reports had to go the US Client by that night. That kept me busy till around 6.50. Just as I was returning to my place, the same colleague who had been to the canteen for a tea, gave me the news that there had been a few bomb blasts on the local train. In the afternoon, I had heard of the serial blasts in J&K and now this news. I rushed to the canteen where we had two television sets. Almost all the colleagues had ghathered around. All the news channels were flashing the breaking news of 7 bomb blasts in mumbai local train between 6.00 to 6.30.

By around 7.00-7.15, our high tech News Channels had started showing the 'First Pictures' of the Bomb Blasts from across the 7 death venues. When I first viewed it, my legs became weak. I had to sit on the sofa near by. What was shown on the TV was really horrific. It was all blood and human flesh every where. The victims were been 'gathered' in the bedsheets and were being taken off. Men, women with red faces were been shown on the TV. I could not take it any more just got off from there, with misty eyes. The thought off the relatives and family members of these victims came to my mind. How would anyone cope up with the fact, that the person whom he was waiting for a few minutes ago, would never come home now. Many of the people dead, would have some family fuctions at home, they would have planned for somethings in near future alongwith their family. These things won't happen. Instead  they will have undergo an altogether different situation. God Help Them.
Then suddenly I remembered of my family. By this time they also must have got the news. They must be in tension. I thought of informing them about my safety. I dialed the number, but to vain. Everybody in the office was trying the same thing, but no one was able to reach. All the mobile and landline network had collapsed when it was required the most. After trying for around 15 mins, I got the line and informed them that I was safe and in Office. I thanked God Almighty for my office timings been till 7.30 pm. Had I gone home early, as I had planned, I would have been a victim of anyone of the blasts.

It was already 7.30 PM and the office staff were planning to leave for their homes. But nobody had any idea as to what is the situation. Like are the trains running, Are there any riots or things like that, If the trains are not working, the situation on the roads will be too bad. Just then the senior management started taking decisions. We, the AMs were asked to collect the info, about where and how the people in our team were travelling. Those who were going by their own vehicles, were asked to take alongwith them somebody from that area. Our London and New York Offices were informed about the events.
